yes sir I used it for a little while but I found it to be more annoying than useful...even more so annoying than User Account Control.

I agree with halladayrules...and Server 2008R2's firewall is fairly capable if you are willing to manually edit it's configuration... But if you're looking for a more user friendly firewall configuration experience, where everything is blocked by default until in context of need you grant access, and don't mind having .NET 3.5 installed on your system; TinyWall is an application that automatically configures Server 2008R2's firewall for you, with more user friendly approach similar to what's offered Consumer products like ZoneAlarm and Comodo.

hi !

How to install Comodo Firewall on WS2008-R2

Open the installer with fx. 7-zip
go to "\cis\download\installs\xml_binaries\cis\"
extract cis_setup_x64.msi
run cis_setup_x64.msi

it installs without complaining about R2....
i´m running it now and everything looks as usual, i´ve previously used Comodo Firewall for years, and it seems to work normally.

But, it refuses to update !!!

I´ve even tried to run the updater (cfupdate.exe) in compatibility-mode, i tried all available options,
WS2008 / Vista / W7, but it doesn´t work.
The updater start to check for updates, then nothing happens.....

The weird thing is, yesterday i got a "answer" from the updater: "Update available, do you want to install ?", i selected yes, and nothing happened.
I uninstalled & reinstalled Comodo Firewall and tried once again, but it still doesn´t work.

So it looks like it´s possible to install, but you can´t update !? :(

I downloaded another program, Comodo Internet Security Pro 2012, and extracted the installer using the same method as described above.
And to my big surprise, now it´s updating !!! :o

Those 2 installers looked identical (same size !?) so i checked their SHA-1 checksums with WinHex, and they are identical !
However, i did one thing before i ran the updater the last time, i killed 2 processes that belongs to Online Armor which is disabled but not uninstalled.
But after a reboot, one of them is still running exactly as it was previously when i tried to update, Comodo didn´t update but now it does.
So this really looks a bit weird.

It would be VERY nice if someone else could try Comodo Firewall on R2, so we can check if i´m the only one having problems with the updater...?

hi !

After having done some test with Comodo Leak Test i can confirm that atleast the HIPS (Defence+) in Comodo Firewall is working.

I got a perfect score, 340/340 with both Comodo Firewall and Windows Firewall.

I took out all the launch conditions in Comodo Internet Security 6.0.264710.2708. And installed on my Server 2008 R2 with no glitches.
