Hi folks,
I just got my Windows Server 2012 installation and I'm wondering which version of System Center I need to get in order to extract the Windows Security Essentials that run on Server 2012?
I've read in the guide that you need to unzip (I guess mount the iso?!) and run the setup from the client directory, but this directory doesn't exist on my installation.
I have Systems Center 2012 Service Manager with SP1.
Which one should I get that contains the client directory?

You need to open this one : mu_system_center_2012_configuration_manager_and_endpoint_protection_with_sp1_x86_x64_dvd_1565907 and browse to this folder : SMSSETUP -> CLIENT in there you'll find the installers. N

Thanks! I had the wrong iso image. I've now downloaded the configuration manager iso and found it where you said it would be I have to say, I'm liking 2012 a lot better as a workstation than 2008r2!

Make sure, if you SCEP client, that Windows Update is enabled and that no Group Policy disables Windows Update or Windows Defender. WD is not present on WS2012, but SCEP client uses the same service as WD, so you need that to be enabled. Go on Group Policy ( gpedit.msc ) on Computer Configuration – Administrative Templates – Windows Components – Windows Defender. In there, disable all the three „Turn Off” policies.

All is ok. Windows Defender is still not there on the sources files. But MSE and SCEP client have the same engine, and they need thoose policies to be disabled for any of them to do their job as they suppose to.

Disabling thoose policies does not install anything, but it allows to be installed and work ok for MSE or SCEP client.
