Hi,

We put together an $OEM$ Pack for Windows Server 2012 to get it to a Workstation OS.

Basically it works like the $OEM$ Packs that we released for Windows Server 2008 R2.

Some changes were necessary and we managed to get it working properly.

We added themes to it, as you know Server Editions do not come with nice wallpaper.

Please feel free to post feedback and requests.

What does it do your Server 2012 release :

-> Enabled Windows Audio
-> Enabled .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
-> Enabled Desktop Experience
-> Enabled Themes
-> Enabled Audio
-> Enabled Wireless Networking
-> Enabled Server Backup

-> Disabled IE Enhanced Security Configuration
-> Disabled Complex Password
-> Disabled Password Expiration
-> Disabled CTRL+ALT+DEL at Start up
-> Disabled Shutdown Event Tracker

-> Set Performance to Programs

-> Added Classic Shell

-> NOT INCLUDED : MICROSOFT SERVER CONVERTER

Why ?

We are going to fix a new tool for Server 2012 ! Patience.

Wow, great to see that Windows Server 8 is on its way! I love my converted 2008 R2 :D
And looking forward to Server 8 with ReFS :mrgreen:

Hope you will continue your mission, even though some people might not try out the conversion pack before the full version of Server 8 is out there. Having a beta that cannot be upgraded to the full version is kind of a show stopper now ;)

Am I allowed to ask where I can acquire Windows Server 8?

Edit: Never mind. Should have read the other threads.

How exactly do you use this $OEM$ folder? Does it have anything to do with the R2 Workstation Converter?

It's the new version of the $OEM$ packs that includes already R2 Workstation Converter.

So minimal transformations are applied as the rest can be done with R2Conv3.

What I mean is: What do I do with this folder?

From what it looks like on the 2008R2 $OEM$ thread, it looks like you would put the $OEM$ folder inside the /sources/ folder of the ISO. The problem with that, is that I didn't get an ISO from Microsoft, I was only given a VHD file which I had to unpack to a hard drive. How would I use this $OEM$ folder if Server 8 Beta is already installed on my system?

This folder only works with W8 Server ISO that you can download from Microsoft to test for free in a VM.

If you wish to convert W8 Server to a workstation then you need to check here :

I add this $OEM$ pack to the 2012 RTM ISO image with UltraISO Premium,
and burn it to a DVD DISC.

But.. no UEFI Boot option shows up at BIOS boot(F8).

The original ISO DVD can show the UEFI option at F8 boot.

Did I miss something?

This pack has nothing to do with UEFI boot option.

It's only a pack to add themes and other stuff to your windows image and does not alter boot options of the DVD, so the issue is elsewhere.

Sorry.
