Maybe there are, still, 3rd party alternatives to System Restore, maybe even free ones. All that I knew was Norton GoBack, but it was discontinued and it was not even free.

I've modified System Restore 2008 R2 for Windows 2012.
All need files I've import from Windows 8 x64.
The archive is here - http://yadi.sk/d/EWwwGQes0SlDy
All worked fine!

I have tried, it failed to install. Where are the files now, to remove them and try again?
I admit, I have tried before to enable System Restore from gpedit.msc , I found some options, enables them but it still refused to. I have on my hard drive some files taken from a Windows 8 x64 machine, for System Restore, but I did not used them for this, I have used this archive. I knew from the 2008 r2 section of this forum that the files were rstrui, spp.dll și srcore.dll . After this install, all I could see in the System32 folder was the spp.dll . Shall I remove it, run a reigstry cleaner, then try again to install?

I checked the pack out and there are "too many" files in it, once you remove the duplicate ones that are already in Server2012, the pack works.

Here are the required ones :

System32

Image

System32\en-US

Image

SysWOW64

Image

SysWOW64\en-US

Image

Most important : make sure you have Windows Server Backup Feature enabled.

FYI :

Quote:
xcopy /S /Y "Files1" %systemdrive%\windows\system32
xcopy /S /Y "Files2" %systemdrive%\windows\system32\en-us
xcopy /S /Y "Files3" %systemdrive%\windows\syswow64
xcopy /S /Y "Files4" %systemdrive%\windows\syswow64\en-us
xcopy /S /Y "Files5" "%systemdrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools"
xcopy /S /Y "Files6" "%systemdrive%\Windows"

Now you know where files are copied, Files1 -> System32, Files2 -> System32\en-US.... and so on.

I am fixing the pack for MSC2012, but I am not quite done yet.

N :)

Ok tried this. When I ran it the dos window opened and it didn't copy anything. And if your really not watching you would think it was all good. So lol I just opened your install.bat and copied all the files where the install show'd but I didn't over right anything. I Just let it copy what was not there. Also in the dos window I did all the "regsvr32".

Went through the bat file did the reg.. tried the program in "Accessories" which for some reason is hidden ..but WORKED PERFECT! Had to just turn it on for the C: drive.

So HUGE thanks dude!
