Hello,

I have same problem with NetLimiter 2.

"Windows could not start the NetLimiter on Local COmputer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 1."

I cant start Netlimiter Service. Everything was OK before.
This is Netlimiter Event Viewer:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: NetLimiter 2
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 9/17/2008
Time: 4:06:12 PM
User: N/A
Computer: COMPANY-9FC969C
Description:
Sattings failed to load.

This is System Event Viewer:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7024
Date: 9/17/2008
Time: 4:08:51 PM
User: N/A
Computer: COMPANY-9FC969C
Description:
The NetLimiter service terminated with service-specific error 1 (0x1).

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I remove it manual and reinstall again, but when I start it i got this message:

Couldn't connect to NetLimiter 2 service.
The RPC server is not listening.

What to do?

Maybe a reinstallation of the program works.
If you have already done that:
The errorlog says "Settings failed to load". That can either be that the settings file doesn't exist or that the user that is running the service doesn't have the permissions to open or create the file. To find out what the problem is, add in Sysinternals Process Explorer as filter: Process Name | is nlsvc.exe | then | include, then start the service (Start -> Run -> services.msc)

Hope that way you can find out what the problem is. If you don't see anything suspicious, please upload the zipped export of the Process Monitor logfile in csv format somewhere and add a link at the forum.
