Is there a way to enable this in group policy? So the built in guest account can join different wireless networks?

I don't want to make a new limited account, just wondering if I can enable this functionality for the built in guest account.

You already can, the network icon is just grayed out in system tray. I'm not sure how to enable the network icon for guest account right yet. If you want to skip a few steps from what I've written above.

Option 1:

Click on Start, and choose Network. Click on Network and Sharing Center. Then click on Connect to a network.

Option 2:

Create a shortcut with this as the path:

explorer.exe ::{7007ACC7-3202-11D1-AAD2-00805FC1270E}

Name it "Network".

Then when you click on it, it will open up Network Connections. Right-click on your wireless connection and choose "Connect/Disconnect".

Either Option 1 or Option 2 will get you the desired result. Option 2 is a little bit quicker. I really don't think it matters which option you choose.

Hmm, have not tried Option 2 yet, but Option 1 does not work, as I just see an access denied message.

Hence, Option 2 likely will not work either.

I am sure it is a policy setting somewhere.

I hope so. It worked fine for me under 2008. Doesn't work in 7 I see. You click the "Connect to a network" icon but nothing happens. Its like "W-T-F". Seriously... screw Windows 7. lol

It doesn't work in R2.

No errors are logged either.

Odd.

Maybe you can just create an additional limited "standard" user account with the name "Jingo-Guest" or something of that nature and just use that for guest access I suppose?

Nope. I want to figure out how to let the Guest account do it.
