Have server 2008 OS…i cannot seem to find an HP home deskjet printer that is compatible,…I have the CD and it will not load, went to HP and they say that server 2008 will not download driver. Not sure what to do as I use the server 2008 as home server and do not want to purchase a business type printer,…any suggestions??

i trying to install windows server 2003 and thereas certain driver cannot be update . wish is could be update . but , i didnt know how to update the driver or finding the driver for my windows server . let me hav any suggestion how to download please … tq

Arris: For Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2 you can use Windows XP drivers. If you can’t find them, ask your question at the forums.

Hey folks. I have an Alienware M15x that I have working for the msot part but can’t get the NIC to install. Its an Intel 82577LS chip. I went to Dell’s site and tried the Windows 7 64-bit drivers. Fails on install. Then went to intel’s and downloaded their proset drivers.

Tried running the app to install and get a “the version of this file is not compatable with the version of Windows you are running.” Extracted the files and tried updating the drivers manually. Failed. I’m at a loss as to how to get this thing working.

I have a newer HP z200 workstation. IT came with win 7.
Does anyone have info on putting server 2k8 on top of win 7?
Or is this vista solution the only one available?

I downloaded server 2008 on a partition on my laptop. I loaded it everything went well except my Network controller… and other device drivers…Do you think i could just got to the dell website and download my drivers save them via USB and download them on my server?

Arris: That’s right! Download the Vista driver with the right architecture (x86/x64) and it will work.

James – IE has specific security setting on a server installation. to disable in Server 2008, start Server Manager and under Security settings click on Configure IE ESC.

Hi Everyone,
I’m wondring if anyone has had any luck getting a Nvidia GTX graphics card to work with a motherboard with an “NForce Pro 2000″-series chipset. I’ve given up on getting R2 to work and am trying to see if Server 2008 (non-R2) will do the trick.

Any hints or help appreciated. The only thing I’ve gleaned after a couple of weeks of struggling is:

1) Hypervisor is alleged to interfere with Nvidia drivers in some cases

2) I get a “PCI to PCI” bridge error in Device Manager that is errored out when I have my Nvidia card installed -an NO display devices show even though the card is “working” but only as generic device

3) Seems to be related the Nforce 2200/2050 Chipset on my Tyan.

4) I hate Nvidia a little bit right now.

Main Question: Anyone have Nvidia card working on an Nforce series chipset on 2008? Care to share your magic?

Has anyone tried to install driver for Intel WiFi Link 1000 on windows 2008. i am facing a problem trying to find a driver for this. Arris: You should be able to use the same drivers you would have used for Vista which you can download here: x86 / x64. Also don't forget to install the Wireless Networking feature which is explained here.

Do you have leasons on security? Every time I try downloading somethings “my security setting won’t allow” I’ve even turned them all off and still…. Silverlight for example

Switching back to w2k8 from w2k8 r2. To much problems with drivers by my options. I’m pretty unhappy to see how i have trouble installing not-singed dirvers and view how ” New! Hot! WHQL Certified fucking drivers crash my system very easy way.

Regarding why you can’t see wireless on windows 2008, ensure that you have enabled the Wireless LAN Service Feature in Server Manager.

You can try to backup your drivers in Windows Vista using Driver Genius, reinstall the PC with Windows Server 2008 and install the drivers you backed-up.

Firstly I want to thank you all for posting such great tips.
I have a “usb nature” problem with my Server2008Ent x32 and hope somebody could help.
I ‘m into music industry and use an “access virus ti desktop” (http://accessmusic.de) connected with usb that works fine with 2.51 firmware driver. The problem arises when trying to upgrade to the new firmwares.
Does anyone know which are the differences of vista vs serv08 on usb driver level?
Even better can someone upload the necessary usb related vista files that will make server 08 “see” the device properly?
I’m into this problem a year now and can’t figure out a solution

Arris: Why bother when you can also update the firmware on an other (XP/Vista) PC? I’ve no idea why that doesn’t work in Windows Server 2008 in your case!

If you have an ASUS board with the Atheros L1e chipset that won’t install because ASUS won’t let it, download the driver from ECS’ site (P43T-A2 board).

It’s a Zip file and you can point 2008 Server at the C:\Drivers\Network\L1e\vista_64 folder and you’re all set.

Anyone have issues with wireless network adapters, specifically ones with the Ralink 2500 chipset? I have a Hawking HWP54GR, the vista 64 drivers installed fine and the utility runs, but the device is still unknown, any ideas?
