Heya all

1)why use virtualpc 2007? Virtualbox works just as good and costs nothing even better it runs on Linux and Windows.
2) Linux is not hard @ all try the new Ubuntu it is even easier than Windows, it does it all for you!
3) There are several cases where big corporates use Linx on the desktop
there are a lot of government organisations too. We actually boot linux thin clients and launch citrix from there.
4) On the server nothing beats Linux, they don’t even come close!
5) If Windows is so much better why are the majority of webservers on the net Apache + Linux?
6) And all the DNS servers? All the root DNS servers?

My list can go on and on, but yes, the market is dominated by windows currantly.

For those getting the 0×80020009 error. Make sure that your run box says “this process will be run with administrative privilages”. If it doesn’t display a message similar to that, then right click on “command prompt” in the start menu and select “run as administrator”. Then follow the admin’s post on #16.

Also, I’m running x64 standard and the sidebar works perfectly. The x64 sidebar download is indeed a 64-bit app, so put it in program files, not program files (x86).

What about bluetooth support? There’s a great guide here (http://www.gilkirkpatrick.com/Blog/post/Installing-the-Microsoft-Bluetooth-Stack-on-Windows-Server-2008.aspx) for getting it to work, needs some .inf file modifications and would be perfect for this

Is the gameux.dll in the converter x86 or x64, since the Missing gameux.dll page has both a x86 and x64 version?

Make sure to reflect the Aero Cursor registry change from [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Cursors\Schemes] to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\Cursors\Schemes] for Aero Cursors, otherwise, only current user will get Aero Cursors.

Garret, if you want media sharing use Tversity, it has been updated for support for Vista and Server 2008 and I use it quite often as I have loads of media.

Not denying this is a great bundling of cmds but why is anyone using a Server platform as a workstation? By the workstation operating system!! Surely making these changes could cause possible problems with any future Windows updates and Service Pack releases….

I just posted this one in the Application section of the forums but I’m really disappointed Microsoft didn’t include the ability to use Media Sharing in WMP11. No way out of the box to share media to another computer or Xbox 360
